This ambitious urban development in progress, located west of Brussels-Capital Region in Anderlecht, benefits both from its proximity to city life and a country-side environment. The development is easily accessed by the motorway ring, the future RER railway network and the metropolitan line. It also neighbours Erasmus’ hospital and university. Here, A2RC ARCHITECTS, with the landscape architects JNC International, is creating an eco-quarter of 1,300 apartments, retail outlets, amenities (including a school and a retirement home) and car parks. The subdivision plan, elaborated by the architects, now allows them to organise the constructions around a large diversity of public spaces, offering planted alleys, parks, quiet pedestrian malls along a water canal, pathways for cyclists and wanderers, and playgrounds especially devoted to children and youngsters. Minimal development of streets for car accessibility helps preserve the neighbourhood and protect it from noise. Harmonious architectural diversity is being proposed, based on comfortable and practical internal living spaces, with private terraces and amazing views onto the site. The goal is to achieve a high quality of life, which is understood to be the priority here.

This subdivision project is located close to Calevoet railway station and the Lycée Français, on the site of the Engeland plateau. It includes 298 homes, comprising 236 apartments and 62 houses, to be built over nine years. All of this will cover 9 hectares, of which 6 hectares will be kept as a protected green area.
