The project has two aspects: renovation of the existing old theatre building, giving it a completely new 504-seat auditorium (BOL) and the construction of a new building adjoining the theatre (BOX). These two buildings are connected by an underground passage. The new building has three separate volumes. These house the spaces for the performers, the administrative functions and the main volume containing three superimposed rooms (rehearsal, dance, black box). The circulation is peripheral to the central volume, which allows an interplay of transparency, views and glimpses of the walkways linking the various functions. A succession of ramps, intended for exhibitions and receptions lead the audience to the first floor, to the black box and the main foyer. They are visible from the square, and also make it possible to see the audience moving around, while creating a visual link with the external walkways of the old theatre. Two interior gardens offer chill-out areas for the staff and the performers, within the block.
