The project renovates an existing theater and adds a new building, providing functional spaces.
The project encompasses two key elements: the renovation of the existing historic theatre building, transforming it into a modern space with a new 504-seat auditorium (BOL), and the construction of a new adjacent structure (BOX). These two buildings are connected by an underground passage. The new building is composed of three distinct volumes, each serving a specific function: spaces for performers, administrative areas, and the main volume, which contains three stacked rooms—rehearsal, dance, and a black box.
The circulation around the central volume is designed to be peripheral, allowing for a dynamic interplay of transparency, views, and glimpses into the walkways that link the various spaces. A series of ramps, designed for exhibitions and receptions, guide visitors to the first floor, where they access the black box and the main foyer. These ramps are visible from the square, providing a way to observe the flow of people, while simultaneously creating a visual connection to the external walkways of the old theatre.
Within the block, two interior gardens serve as tranquil spaces for the staff and performers, offering moments of relaxation and respite.
