The works of Gilbert Fastenaekens, taken from his Site series, present a group of photographs of a protean city, the amazing sum total of architecture and building sites, dismal outskirts, and historic buildings, wasteland and sky, alluring perspectives and a disintegrating urban fabric, resigned nature, and unexpected beauty. Urbanity is perceived as a terrific movement of energy that perpetually generates the city, at the same time as transforming it.
