The Erasmus Garden project in Anderlecht aims to complete the Erasmus district with buildings P, Q, and R. The architecture, of high quality and sustainable, emphasizes shared communal spaces, fostering conviviality and generational diversity.
The Erasmus Garden project in Anderlecht aims to complete the Erasmus district with the construction of buildings P, Q, and R. The architecture developed stands out for its harmonious integration within the neighborhood. The buildings feature sober façades made of brick and thermally lacquered aluminum, with a natural stone base. These façades are designed to clearly reflect the different rooms of the apartments, with living rooms marked by large openings and architectural concrete balconies. The bedrooms are defined by smaller window frames and metal balustrades. The façades facing the inner courtyard are finished with the same high quality as those facing the public space. This project takes environmental constraints into account to ensure the buildings’ durability. It also highlights communal spaces, creating a welcoming and open neighborhood with varied housing types, from studios to three-bedroom apartments, ensuring strong generational diversity.
The apartments in the Erasmus Garden project are mostly cross-ventilated. However, some non-cross-ventilated apartments, such as corner apartments and certain studios and apartments on the ground floor, benefit from two orientations and optimal daylight. The single-oriented apartments, especially on the ground floor, are designed to provide comfort comparable to cross-ventilated apartments, with living rooms and bedrooms having the same dimensions and window areas. Additionally, these apartments enjoy a south or east orientation to ensure natural light. To guarantee their privacy, some units are elevated above street level or set back by two meters, with planting forming a visual barrier. The living rooms of cross-ventilated apartments are oriented south or east, with comfortable balconies or terraces (approximately 2 m x 3 m) and large windows ensuring optimal natural light. Basements, storage units, and laundry rooms are also included in the design.
